ParticipantHello Dr. Herbener. Any idea of what happened to the slides and bibliography?

ParticipantI just saw this so it might not help now. We use the Kennedy book in my school and regularly see passing rates of 70% and higher. As Tom said about Brinkley (it applies to this as well), it’s a pretty conventional text. I simply tell them during lectures that this is what the College Board wants you to know, but here is the real story… Good luck.

ParticipantArash: Which book did Dr. Gutzman review? Can you post a link, I’d love to read the review.

ParticipantThanks for the insights. I was in the middle of grading finals and had it posted on my Facebook page by a marxist friend of mine. I didn’t have the time to break it down so I was looking for a quick bit of advice on the article. In the end I decided to sit down and reread it when I had the time, and that time has finally arrived.

ParticipantWhat you are seeing is the tyrannical nature of all centralizing governments. The nature of government is power and the use of that power to the benefit of certain groups over others.
As for Rothbard, to the best of my knowledge he didn’t write on this part of US history. I know he did a lot of work on the Colonial period with his Conceived in Liberty and he did a lot of work on the Great Depression.

ParticipantI really enjoyed this lecture. I’ve already purchased the book “The Language of the American South” and I’m planning on using a ton of this stuff to change around my lectures next year in AP US history. Thanks!
